The Point: The Science of Sensitivity Training

Studies show…that studies are often bunk. For the Colson Center, I’m John Stonestreet with The Point.

James Damore was fired from Google for sending a so-called “diversity memo” suggesting, among other things, that differences between men and women exist. Among the things Damore called for was an end to “unconscious bias training,” the sensitivity seminars large companies use to root out the racism and sexism employees don’t even know they suffer from.

Writing at the Wall Street Journal, Andy Kessler says the studies this training is based on are mostly nonsense. We shouldn’t be so quick to trust anything labeled “science.”

Back in 2015, the center for Open Science revealed that the results of 61 of the leading 100 psychology experiments couldn’t be replicated. Last year, a survey published in Nature found that more than 70 percent of researchers have tried and failed to reproduce each other’s experiments. More than half couldn’t even reproduce their own!

In other words, claims to “science” shouldn’t just be taken at face value. Ask questions. Find out more. Especially when it’s being used to push a social agenda.

    I have been trying to tell others this very thing ever since I took research methods for my graduate studies. If the study cannot be replicated, that is HUGE RED FLAG #1 to not trust the science.

    I’m totally laughing over here too about the claim that 61/100 psych studies could not be replicated. Laughing because so many (essentially) sell their brains to these con-artist-doctors. That is why–for the most part–I DO NOT TRUST current psychological trends, medicine, diagnoses, etc. It is largely a pack of lies in exchange for a big pack of money.

    Or perhaps they are racist or sexist, but too ashamed to openly admit it
