The Point: Asylum for Asia!

Please Mr. President, grant asylum for Asia Bibi.

On Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, reports surfaced that Islamic radicals in Pakistan were “hunting house to house” to kill Pakistani Christian Asia Bibi.

Bibi, falsely convicted of blasphemy, spent nine years in prison before the Pakistani supreme court overturned the conviction, setting off riots across the Muslim-majority country.

She and her family are now in hiding, while a few Western countries, notably Canada and Australia, are working to grant her asylum and get her out of Pakistan.

But the U. S., so far, has remained silent. This is wrong. The Trump administration has done a lot to further religious freedom abroad but is doing painfully little to help Christians fleeing Islamic persecution, and in some cases, like Asia Bibi, death.

That is why my BreakPoint This Week co-host Ed Stetzer and I ask you to join us in a social media campaign using the hashtag: #AsylumforBibi. Please, tell President Trump to do the right thing and grant asylum for Asia Bibi.
