CMDA is a national organization of over 16,000 Christian doctors, dentists, healthcare professionals and students practicing across the world whose purpose is to change hearts in healthcare. Founded in 1931by students at Northwestern University Medical School, CMDA has grown tremendously, now with more than 80 ministry outreach programs. One of the core ministries of CMDA continues to be working with medical and dental students to create the kind of doctors we all want and hope for – physicians and dentists who are competent, compassionate and focus on the patient more than the disease. Each year CMDA organizes and leads 40 international medical-dental teams, helps start clinics for the poor and underserved and sponsors student and resident rotations in developing countries. Educating our members is an important part of our mission. CMDA produces and distributes educational and inspirational resources; provides missionary doctors with continuing education resources; and conducts international academic exchange programs. CMDA serves as the voice of its members to the media, churches and government speaking out on bioethical, health and human rights issues. It participates in over 600 TV, radio and print interviews each year, and represents its members on the national level by providing experts for congressional testimony. Through its many endeavors, CMDA is fulfilling its vision: transformed doctors, transforming the world.
