disc-Heath1Heath is a member of the 2008 Centurions Program class, where I met him during our first Centurions residency earlier this year.

Heath is one of a rising wave of new generation Christian artists, musicians, and writers who are committed to reform within the church, a return to orthodox teachings and belief. They are so in love with the church that they can’t bear to see it harmed by the forces of self-centered humanism—a subject Heath defines for us and discusses in this interview.

At the age of 29, Heath has just finished his first book, a spicy one that gives the reader an adventuresome ride on the subject of Christian teachings, entitled To the Lion: The Christian in Tension. We explore that book in this podcast, and discuss the Christian paradoxes that are presented in Heath’s book, such as God’s sovereignty versus personal responsibility and God’s justice versus God’s mercy. Be sure to check out Heath's new website as well.

“Discourse,” an occasional podcast on BreakPoint, applies a Christian worldview lens to a broad range of issues related to contemporary culture. Stephen Reed, a Centurion in the class of 2008, is a former talk radio host and serves as grants and foundations specialist for PFM. If you see any cultural issues out there you would like to see us address in a future podcast, e-mail Stephen at: stephen_reed@pfm.org.
