Discourse #30: Get to The Point By: Stephen Reed|Published: May 6, 2011 12:00 AM Stephen Reed interviews radio hosts John Stonestreet and Chuck Colson about about BreakPoint's newest broadcast and website. Listen Now | Download
This was a fun interview with two guys who enjoy a meaningful conversation: BreakPoint and Colson Center Founder Chuck Colson and John Stonestreet, the Colson Center’s National Strategic Partners Director and Executive Director of Summit Ministries. The occasion? To celebrate John’s coming aboard to be the new voice for The Point, a popular one-minute, daily radio program on several hundred radio stations nationwide, with an accompanying blog. Click here to access the blog and past radio commentaries. Chuck Colson has always looked for new ways to communicate with our audiences here at BreakPoint and the Colson Center. His BreakPoint commentaries are three and a half minutes. “The Point,” aimed at a younger audience is only a minute long -- just enough to capture the listener’s imagination, with backup for those who want more from the aforementioned blog. Now John Stonestreet, an accomplished Christian apologist and teacher, will be delivering each day’s message on The Point, and what a great choice! John has been honing his content and delivery for years at Summit Ministries in Colorado Springs by entering into a dialogue with young people as they approach college. Equipping them to deal with all that the world will throw at them, John enjoys bringing a one-on-one approach to his commentaries. “I just discuss subjects like I’m in someone’s living room,” says John.
Enjoy this discussion with two great Christian leaders from their respective generations. But you’ll find that Chuck is embracing the technology of blogging -- rumor is he’s going to start some daily blogging himself -- and that John is a seasoned conversationalist and accomplished intellectual, despite his tender years. “Discourse,” an occasional podcast on BreakPoint, applies a Christian worldview lens to a broad range of issues related to contemporary culture. Stephen Reed, a Centurion in the class of 2008, is a former talk radio host and serves as Web content editor for the Colson Center.
