The best ideas often come from young people who, early on in their careers, see a serious need addressed in society. Jennifer Miller certainly comes out of that mold.

Miller, a Ph.D. candidate with a physics background, attended a scientific conference in 2001 and saw some exceptional advancements in healthcare and technology but also the significant uncertainties amassing as to those advancements’ daily applications and allocations.

Oftentimes, healthcare resources can be expensive and, especially in crises like Hurricane Katrina, scarce. How does one deal with these scarce and necessary resources from a Christian Worldview perspective?

Jennifer has come a long way from those initial observations and is now the Founder and Executive Director of Bioethics International (BEI) in New York City. BEI has established itself as a leading expert in disaster preparedness, resource allocation, and bio-pharmaceutical ethics.
Bioethics takes a very hands-on approach to getting to know their clients in the healthcare and biotechnology industries. Understanding that hospitals and pharmaceutical companies need to make a profit, Bioethics strives to help such people-helping industries work through knotty ethical situations up front and to build in a service mindset, getting proper credit from the public they serve for doing so.
