Freedom of religion, Really?
How can America embrace 'freedom of religion' when a religion embraces practices (think Koran) that are clearly illegal under US (Judeo-Christian) law? A perfect example of this is the mormon doctrine of polygamy, it may have been their religion but it is illegal in the US!
Claiming everything.
Mr. Obama's comments are typically muslim double speak. Muslims claim Jesus as one of their prophets even though what he said is totally opposite of what they do. To lie to your enemies is acceptable. I prefer the word of God in Isaiah 51:12 where he says this:
"I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as
grass;" and 41:10 "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am
thy God: I will strengthen thee;
yea, I will help thee; yea, I will
uphold thee with the right hand of
my righteousness.
11 Behold, all they that were
incensed against thee shall be
ashamed and confounded: they shall
be as nothing; and they that strive
with thee shall perish".
Victory is what we should be praying for
over these 40 days !
In spite of Obama's spin. or maybe because of it, I see America and Christians taking Christ to the Streets once again and most people are seeing our president as a Poor Example of whatever religion he is pretending to be.
Chuck - try my site if you want to know what happens to America at the rapture, that is a consolation for me that there won't be much left for Islam to want after June 2017. Gary Keasler. Silver Lake Ohio (call me if you want - 330 319-5061)
Freedom of Religion
Keep on beating the drum, Chuck. I forward these breakpoints to many people, hoping that the Lord will use your commentaries to open people's eyes to the events unfolding around them. I really appreciate your clear thinking. It has been a blessing to our family - especially our three boys.

religion vs. worship
Many folks are fuzzy about the difference between freedom of religion and freedom of worship (I admit it took me a few minutes to realize the difference). I think they are terms that are interchangeable to most people today. However a recent trip to the Norman Rockwell museum surprised me in that his famous "Four Freedoms" paintings also includes "Freedom of Worship" and they were painted back in the 40s. I'd like to think this administration is just confused, but I doubt that considering their track record. Language, stealthily used, is a dangerous weapon.
the administrations rhetoric
Apparently the President wants Muslims to have freedom of religion in this country, but wants Christians only to have freedom of worship. This is consistent with everything else we've seen from this administration with regard to Christianity and Islam. For example, he nearly refuses to acknowledge the National Day of Prayer, but he supports the building of the Mosque near ground zero. These are not coincidences.
religion vs worship
President Obama is a classic people pleaser. He tells you what you want to hear, but he does it in such vague terms that he can retreat if necessary. You know it is coming when he starts a sentence with "Well look". He has no interest in religion only politics. Thus the terms freedom of religion or freedom of worship can be interchanged depending on the audience. Unfortuneately poll ratings and votes count more in politics than principles.
Religion v. Worship
I think you made a simple error at the end when you wrote "Folks ,... Is it perhaps freedom of religion for some, and freedom of religion for others?"

I believe you meant: "freedom of religion for some, and freedom of worship for others"

Religion vs. worship
Chuck -
I think Mr. Nelson (above) identifies a cogent point in this administration"s embrace of moral relativism and post-modern humanism. Naturally, such thinking negates right and wrong and allows equivocation on any point. Therein, the Obama administration has demonstrated an undeniable propensity to react to situations without first applying thought and good judgment. Needless to say, it is axiomatic that someone lacking moral values will have a very difficult time making value judgments. Hence we can expect the poor judgments seen in the Professor Gates/Cambridge police and the Shirely Sherrod incidents, the Gulf oil spill incompetence and confusion, the moral bankruptcy of the White House's rhetoric on Israeli settlements issue and many more you could name.
I suggest the confusion in the Obama message on the issue of religion vs. worship can be expected from this administration even without a hidden agenda. They are simply morally lost and act like it. At the same time, I do believe that there is an overarching anti-Christian pro Muslim agenda as policy in the White House either due to their pathetic embrace of political correctness, the Muslim influence of Obama's upbringing under 2 Muslim fathers his years in a Muslim school, his belief in Black Liberation Theology, his Marxist disdain for an America which he has to know is founded in the Judeo-Christain Bible, or maybe it is just plain "Obamalike" incompetence. But whatever his intent or message may be on this subject, it has effectively engendered more confusion and less clarity on his position. Kind of like his stated economic policies.
Religion v. Worship
Chuck,
You requested feedback on today's message. I think you have it half right in your 3rd possibility.

You stated the 3rd possibility as "the President was seeking to reassure Muslims that they can practice their religion here, but that he isn’t advocating that Muslims give freedom of religion to others in their countries." I think this is correct.

The other half of the answer is that the Administration is intentionally trying to restrict Christians to private "worship"... as a means to advance a broader liberal agenda.

In a postmodern world the administration can broadcast distinctively different messages to different audiences... because (to them) there is no absolute truth. (I would have thought you of all people would know this!)

Keep up the great work and God bless you.
