Would you take the 12 million dollars, to just show up at the ballpark?

In January, another baseball player made the news over another multi-million dollars contract. Gil Meche was set to receive $12 Million dollars in the final year of his contract as a pitcher for the Kansas City Royals.

That’s a lot of money for one year of baseball -- especially since it didn’t matter how well he played. All he had to do was show up and pitch -- good or bad -- and he would get the money.

But Meche actually turned it down.

Did you catch that? He turned down the money. Because of his injuries, he didn’t think he would earn it -- so he walked away from $12 million. In Meche’s own words: “I didn’t feel like I deserved it.”

Shocking? Business Insider called the act idiotic. Kansas City manager Dayton Moore disagreed -– he said that it only confirmed what he already knew -- Meche was a man of integrity.

What’s it take to do the right thing?

I’m John Stonestreet. Let’s keep talking at ThePointRadio.org.
