Here’s a celebrity that’s not a train wreck.
Taylor Swift. Even though her albums have sold over 20 million copies, the 21 year-old has stayed grounded, avoiding the pitfalls that claim so many young musicians.
Last week at the Teen Choice Awards she told her young female fans to “have breakfast with your dad.” I can’t tell you how much I like this, though I’m clearly biased. I love spending time with my three daughters, and I want them to love it too. But we have to decide to make time, and as Swift said it’s these little decisions that make up our lives. Absolutely.
To quote Eugene Peterson, “life is a long obedience in the same direction.” Healthy lives and societies require virtuous people that can make good decisions.
On September 24, I’ll join Chuck Colson for the Doing the Right Thing Simulcast to talk about this. You, your church, your school, or your business can host it. Visit Doing the Right Thing Event.com.
