Flash mobs used to be about singing, but not anymore.
Yesterday I talked about a recent article by Theodore Dalrymple claiming the recent riots in the U.K. were due to a culture-wide ethical collapse.
Well, Anthony Bradley thinks the same can be said about the violent flash mobs at the Wisconsin State Fair and around the country. As Bradley wrote, “An ailing American culture is responsible… one that does not value forming young people in the way of prudence, justice, courage, self-control and the like.”
C.S. Lewis predicted this years ago: “In a sort of ghastly simplicity we remove the organ and demand the function. We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful.”
The church must step in to the ethical void. On Sept 24, join Chuck Colson, Del Tackett, and myself for a special simulcast on the crisis of ethics.
