We need to give honor where honor is due. I’m John Stonestreet, and this is The Point.

One of the worst habits of young evangelicals like me is to complain about the failures of the last generation, and to imagine that we’ll certainly do things better than they did. Not that the last generation was above critique, but often, ad hominem labels like “fundamentalist,” “too political,” or “modernist” are thrown at them by those who have no grasp of the historical, cultural, or theological backdrop of what they are critiquing.

Several books have been already written in this spirit by authors too young and uninformed, and whose arguments boil down to “I don’t like it, therefore it can’t be true.” Or, “Because you didn’t say it the way I did, your position must be wrong.”

Isaac Newton said, “If I have seen farther than most, it’s because I stand on the shoulders of giants.” Over the next two days, I’ll tell you about two giants who’ve reached significant milestones, and whose lives we should be thankful for.  For the PointRadio.org, I’m John Stonestreet.
