What Counts as Murder? By: John Stonestreet|Published: October 7, 2011 12:00 AM Topics: Abortion, Life Issues So, what exactly does count as murder? I’m John Stonestreet, and this is The Point. Listen Now | DownloadSix years ago, Katrina Effert of Alberta, Canada secretly gave birth to a son in her parent’s home, and then strangled him before throwing his body over the neighbor’s fence. But this month, after being convicted of second-degree murder by two juries, Effert’s sentence was suspended by appeals judge Joanne Veit. What was the rationale? She compared this murder with abortion. “…many Canadians undoubtedly view abortion as a less than ideal solution…[but] they…understand, accept and sympathize with the onerous demands pregnancy and childbirth exact from mothers…” Wow. But think about it. If parents are allowed to kill inconvenient unborn children, why not born ones? As Mark Steyn points out, one and two-year olds are no picnic, either. Can killing toddlers be justified also? The fact is, Judge Veit is being consistent with pro-choice logic. If choice trumps life, no life is sacred. Come to ThePointRadio.org for more on this from Chuck Colson. For The Point, I’m John Stonestreet.
