Dawkins denies reality, again. I’m John Stonestreet, and this is the Point.

Richard Dawkins has been on an atheist’s crusade for years, and he’s now aiming at children. His latest book The Magic of Reality argues the only legitimate explanation of the world is a scientific one. Among the books flaws is putting all religious views on the same level--the Christian story is no more credible than the Aztec or Egyptian myths.

Like all of Dawkins attempts at producing philosophy thus far, this one is heavy on assertions and light on real arguments. But what he said on the O’Reilly factor the other night was really strange. According to Dawkins, there is a logical connection between believing in God and doing evil things, but atheism had nothing to do with the murderous regimes of Mao, Pol Pot, or Joseph Stalin. Huh?

These murderers and their political systems are grounded in atheism. All beliefs influence behavior. And those that deny a source for moral truth have a bad track record, even if Dawkins denies it.  For thePointRadio.org, I’m John Stonestreet.
