PETA, or the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has filed a federal lawsuit against SeaWorld, pushing for the release of five killer whales. If that sounds strange, wait till you hear their argument: they claim SeaWorld is violating the 13th Amendment by keeping the animals encaged. That’s the amendment that banned slavery in the United States.

It’s hard to know whether to laugh at this silly argument or be offended that they are associating what Sea World does with the great atrocity of slavery. But this is the logical outcome of any worldview that fails to distinguish between animals and humans.

And, this isn’t new. The Great Ape Project has been working to endow human rights on primates for years.

Contrary to their claims, these movements don’t raise the value of animal life. Instead, they trivialize human value and remove any source for higher standards for human behavior. If humans start acting like animals, Sea World will seem like heaven.

For thePointRadio.org, I’m John Stonesteet.
