My friend Debbie Brezina who wrote a terrific book on Winston Churchill often remarks that Christians seem to suffer from amnesia. In other words, we don’t know our own history. One of the most significant periods of growth in my life was studying church history with John Woodbridge in seminary. I was the product of a Christian home, school, and college, but I didn’t know church history -- but learning it both placed and deepened my faith. After all, the author of Hebrews tells us to run the race in chapter 12, only after the history lesson in chapter 11.
That's why I’m happy to tell you about a new column at ColsonCenter.org called “Christians Who Changed their World.” Over the next few months historian and author Glenn Sunshine will tell you about people in history that you don’t know, but should -- like Columbanus and Alcuin. I know what you’re thinking: who? But trust me, you’ll want to know more about them and you can find them at ColsonCenter.org, or I’ll link to it at thePointRadio.org. I’m John Stonestreet.
