Over 900 measures restricting abortion have been introduced at the state level already this year, with nearly 80 enacted. That’s twice as many as any other year in recent memory, with 6 months remaining. Restrictions range from extending waiting periods to limiting abortions of viable infants to requiring counseling for the mother about health risks for her or pain for the aborted, and my favorite –defunding Planned Parenthood.
This is all good news, but as Daid Daleiden of Live Action wrote this week, it’s just the beginning. More bills will be presented in the second half of 2011. Each that passes increases the chance that abortion will go back in front of the Supreme Court.
But this is a full court press. I’m thankful that as legal work continues, science continues to show the unborn are fully human, Crisis Pregnancy Centers continue to love people in need, and more Christian couples are embracing the call to adopt. This is headed in the right direction folks. This broadcast originally aired on July 6, 2011.
