Victoria’s Secret has a legitimate business, but their promotion sells a view of women that values them more as billboards than people. Their racy ads not only preach a dehumanizing understanding of beauty, but are placed where nobody—including children—can miss them.
That’s one of the reasons 21-year-old Kylie Bisutti handed in her resignation as a Victoria’s Secret model this month. “I just became so convicted of honoring the Lord and my body and wanting to be a role model for other women out there...” she said on ‘Good Morning America.’
Bisutti also says she has decided not to share her body with anyone but her husband. “My marriage is very important & with divorce rates rising I want to do everything I can to protect my marriage and be respectful to my husband.”
Well done, Kylie. The Christian worldview is personal, but not private. It has implications. And the world will take us more seriously when we’re willing to take those implications seriously. For thePointRadio.org, I’m John Stonestreet.
