I asked several hundred high schoolers last summer if they knew who Chuck Colson was. About 5 did. I was surprised but, I must admit I didn’t read his award-winning autobiography Born Again until after he asked me to join the team at BreakPoint, I figured I should since I was going to work for him, and it was considered one of the more important Christian books of the late 20th century.
I’m glad I did, because it helped me understand the faith better. My generation, and the last few generations of the church, struggles to choose between truth and action. Should we be faithful to proclaim the Gospel, or active in living it?
For Chuck it was always both. His own story demanded it. He had to go back to prison to minister, but he also had to figure out how the Gospel could impact a society riddled with crime. It’s never truth or love, its truth in love It’s always both, just like Chuck showed us. Come to thePointRadio.org to see videos of Chuck’s story. For the Point I’m John Stonestreet.
