Fired for “wanting a family?” Not quite. For the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview, I’m John Stonestreet with The Point.

Emily Herx, recently fired as a Catholic school teacher is suing her diocese for unlawful discrimination. Why? Herx was undergoing in vitro fertilization to become pregnant. Media reports say that Herx’s diocese and school hated the fact that she wanted kids. ABC News even described it as “an Indiana couple’s fight for a family.”

But as with the HHS mandate, the media spin on this can make you dizzy.
As Fort Wayne Bishop Kevin Rhoades explained, “...in vitro fertilization very frequently involves the deliberate destruction or freezing of human embryos,” he said. Many Christians miss this –in vitro fertilization often involves the creation of excess embryos that are left frozen or discarded. Discarding innocent human life is an intrinsic evil according to the [Roman Catholic] Church's teaching, which this teacher agreed to when she took the job.
