Sterilizing Religious Freedom

The message is clear: Keep religion in church, and forget about parental rights. For the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview, I’m John Stonestreet with The Point.

With the HHS mandate now in effect, employee insurance plans across the nation must provide not only contraceptives but also sterilization services. And as Sabrina Gladstone at CNS News points out, children in some states—even girls as young as twelve—can now undergo permanent sterilization without parental consent.

This means that girls who can’t consent to sex and aren’t even old enough to buy alcohol or drive will be able to obtain one of the most life-altering procedures imaginable—without their parents even knowing.

When asked about this at a healthcare press conference held last month, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to answer, saying instead, “Let’s go to church [to] talk about our religion.”

So as government demands we violate our consciences and offer sterilization to kids, our objections have no place in the public square? That’s not “talking about it.” That’s imposed silence.  For ThePointRadio.org, I’m John Stonestreet.
