If you’ve listened to Eric Metaxas and I on BreakPoint this year, you know that we think—like Chuck Colson did—that the Health and Human Services mandate is the most significant threat to religious liberty that we’ve faced in a long time. And, while we haven’t talked a ton about it recently, much has happened. First, Hobby Lobby, one of the largest privately-owned craft chains in the world and Tyndale House, one of the largest Christian publishers, joined in with the growing number of lawsuits. A judge decided in favor of Tyndale’s case, but against Hobby Lobby.

The Department of Justice argued that neither, including the Bible publisher could be considered a religious organization since they were engaged in the commercial sector. In fact, in these cases, the Department of Justice is providing all the proof we need that this is a big deal: they are essentially claiming that anyone who engages in commerce forfeits their religious freedom.
