Unite for Life Webcast Features Abby Johnson and Supports Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers

PRO-LIFE COMMUNITY TO UNITE MAY 17 FOR LIVE WEBCAST

BENEFITTING PREGNANCY RESOURCE CENTERS AND INTRODUCING RELEASE OF “UNPLANNED” DOCUMENTARY

Carol Stream, Illinois – Next month, prolife advocates will come together for a “Unite for Life ” webcast hosted by Focus on the Family to benefit pregnancy care organizations in the U.S. and Canada. The webcast coincides with the release of the new documentary Unplanned based on the book of the same name by Abby Johnson, the former Planned Parenthood director who has become a leading pro-life advocate.

Unplanned, published this year by Focus on the Family and Tyndale House, is the story of Johnson’s decision to leave the nation’s largest abortion provider to devote herself to offering women life-affirming alternatives to abortion.

“Like many who work for Planned Parenthood,” Johnson comments, “I wanted to help women in crisis. But when I was asked to assist with an ultrasound-guided abortion procedure, I discovered a new reality. Previously I had seen only one person – a woman in need – and now I saw two. As I watched on the ultrasound monitor, I saw one of those lives end.

“I came face to face with my own culpability. What I had told people for years, what I believed and taught and defended, was a lie. What if I’d known the truth, and what if I’d told all those women?”

On May 17 at 8 pm in all time zones (9 pm in the Maritimes), Johnson will be joined by leaders representing over 2500 pregnancy centers and clinics in the U.S. and Canada to discuss ways to help women facing unexpected pregnancies. During the webcast, Abby Johnson will share her personal story, including that of her own two abortions, along with clips from the documentary, Unplanned.

Webcast participants will be given the opportunity to donate online, or purchase the new Unplanned DVD Documentary ($19.99), plus the book Unplanned ($22.99), a $43 value for only $25 – of which $10 will go to benefit pro-life pregnancy care organizations including Care Net, Heartbeat International, and the National Institute for Life and Family Advocates (NIFLA) in the U.S. and Canadian Association of Pregnancy Support Services and Signal Hill in Canada.

“We’re thrilled to be able to continue our support for the pregnancy care movement, and at the same time get the news out about the value of all human life,” said Kelly Rosati, vice-president of Community Outreach at Focus on the Family and host of the special Unite for Life webcast.

In addition to the funds raised through product sales and donations, Focus on the Family and Tyndale House Publishers will provide every pregnancy center and clinic in the nation with an “Event-in-a-Box Toolkit” which will include a copy of the documentary, a screening license, and a disk with customizable promotional materials to equip centers and clinics to host their own local fundraising event.
