The Bara Initiative By: Randall Hardman|Published: November 22, 2011 9:43 AM I recently co-founded a new film ministry dedicated towards evangelism in social-media circles. It is called The Bara Initiative. As one who has been doing some independent YouTube video-blogs for about a year, I began to realize the extent that this is needed. Christians have done a poor job of involving themselves within media. Over all, we're terrible at making music and movies. We've only recently begun to grab hold of the internet, but this is mainly done through the use of text blogs and articles which require someone of a dissenting viewpoint to sit still and focus on three or four pages of written text. We all know that reading is a lost art in our culture. So, what other effective avenues are we exploring? Well, this new project is designed to take on an avenue in which an informed and relevant Christian voice is needed. We are going to YouTube with the gospel in a way never done before. It's here that the atheists have a stronghold where we have little to no presence. For example, The Amazing Atheist has about 300,000 individuals who receive his daily rants against people of faith. Some of his videos have managed to catch the eyes and ears of millions of people! Or, take for example, Edward Current's video The Atheist Delusion which is a drastic misrepresentation and mockery of the Christian worldview. This video has gained an audience of about 2 million! Where are the Christian's influencing this particular medium? In recently starting this project and posting our first content-oriented video (below) we were confirmed in our mission purpose with the first comment that was posted: Christianty, like all other religions, is just a pile of garbage. Sorry all you religious peepz but you've got it all wrong. All religions are just based on the same bull****. And I think it's funny that the soundtrack to this video sound like a soft porn song, wich makes me think about the pope and that he rapes little children. It's on the internet where, ironically, true voices are heard and true faces are seen. If you really want to know somebody's thoughts on something, give them the distance of a wi-fi network. Yet, it's here that we need to seek out clarification and relevancy. We are asking that you consider helping us in this initiative. Click on the link above and subscribe to our channel and repost content which you find relevant, including this video. Over the next 5 years we'll be posting around 300 videos on some of the greatest questions in life. We believe that the trend of misrepresentation should be over. Let's go to the culture and explore the questions people are asking. Please join us! |
