One of the biggest points made in the Doing the Right Thing ethics series was the importance of family. When this starts to break down, we’re in trouble. Child poverty or seeing the amount of folks on some sort of welfare is increasing. Why is that?

Robert Rector, Senior Research Fellow in the Domestic Policy Studies Department at The Heritage Foundation, gives us a look, statistically, at the decrease in marriages in our country as the poverty level rises. Is there a connection? What can we be doing about this? A review of this report will help to clarify and confirm our need to strengthen and promote marriage as ordained from creation leading to a costly mistake if we fail.
