Short, Fat, and Ugly

We find the defendant guilty as charged. Besides that, we find him short, fat and ugly.

Forget about the stereotypical criminal twisted by greed, hate and jealousy. Economists have begun to investigate a different explanation for criminal activity and found that physical attributes—such as height, weight and beauty—affect the likelihood of committing, or being convicted of, a crime.

I guess what my mother always said is true: pretty is as pretty does.

It's bizarre (and quite true) that there is a black market (or as the Times says, an "alternative labor market") for crime. Great blog by Ms. Wiley.
