Poison and Antidote
Rating: 2.00

Christians in America need to read this latest blurb over at the DailyKos called "Time to Begin Working for the Death of Religion" by a writer identified only as BlueMoon. (Note: bad language in comments.) Yes, it's over the top. Yes, it's coming from the lunatic fringe. Yes, it's illogical. However, it should make you wonder how many readers of the DailyKos believe this is the direction we need to be heading as a nation.

The way I see it, it's just one more drop of anti-Christian poison being dripped into the culture. Will we counter it with an antidote of Christian love and service that will silence such critics?

Comments:

Not even once in a...
I'll start paying attention to this kind of raving when BlueMoon and his/her friends organize a protest around a mosque. Sounds to me like a lapsed Catholic with an axe to grind, and nothing more.

But as Jason indicates, we'll continue to do our good works irrespective of the outcome. Silencing critics should not be our motivation.
Jesus promised that He was "The way, the Truth, and the Light." He never promised to be practical.

The idea that loving your enemies makes them your friends is untrue. Sometimes it does-just like sometimes good deeds are rewarded with earthly prosperity. Sometimes however it doesn't. We are told to love our enemies because He told us that, not because it is useful.

As for the actual process of loving our enemies, well, that is difficult enough and we might as well get on with it.
No we won't. Christian love and service will make them angrier.

Jhn 15:18 ¶ If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before [it hated] you.
Jhn 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
Jhn 15:20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
