Powerful themes have resonated throughout J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, and have certainly crossed over into the accompanying films. And judging by part one of Deathly Hallows and by the just-released final trailer for part 2, the quest for immortality will play a key role in this last chapter of Warner Brothers' film saga.
Among the questions raised throughout the series, the most burning remain for audiences to consider as they flock to cinemas around the world for the final battle between Harry and Voldemort: What does it mean to die? Is there life beyond the grave? What makes death an enemy to some and a friend to others?
But Deathly Hallows part 2 will also quench the original and most urgent question of the Harry Potter series: Who wins?
Well, audiences who haven't read the books are in for a surprise. And although Deathly Hallows is a battle between mortal enemies, those enemies aren't The-Boy-Who-Lived and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. They are love and death.
Whatever your feelings about the Harry Potter series, be prepared for questions from the unsaved. This story certainly isn't an altar call. But it will leave countless fans ripe for the real message of eternal life.
