I wasn't going to comment on the latest easy divorce scheme proposed by leftist lawmakers in Mexico, but then it struck me that giving someone an easy out like this is similar to what Islam allows its faithful (polygamous) men to do to their girls and women.

You might remember from various reports, Muslim men are allowed up to four wives, and they're also allowed to marry some as young as eight or nine years old (they're not supposed to consummate the marriage before puberty).

In order to get around the "marriage" rule, those clever guys came up with other ways to use and abuse women while keeping their religious vows intact. There are two words that you might not be familiar with: mutaa and misyar. All a lust-filled man has to do to sleep with anyone he wants is to invoke a travelling or pleasure marriage. Basically, all he has to do to "marry" the girl or woman, is say "I marry you." After using her, he can then merely say "I divorce you" three times, and is allowed to wreak havoc somewhere else.

While some "progressive" people might think this eases the pain and suffering of divorce, in reality it opens the door for terrible abuse of young girls and women everywhere.

I hope that the people of Mexico will resist this with all their might.
