That was also how Operation Torch went so smoothly when they arranged Admiral Darlan's defection. For some reason everbody seemed to pick on Vichyites then, for being in the way. As they were more zealous about picking on Jews then some, I suppose that was poetic justice. It is even more ironic that Moshe Dayan recieved his eyepatch helping to conquer Syria from them; and more ironic still that his allies included the Jordanians.
Done unto a nefarious enemy, that would constitute “poetic justice” of the most delectable sort.
