Bibles for British schools?

Here's the latest entry in my "Maybe there's still hope for Britain" series.

Comments:

Curiously...
...when one drives from Ensenada in Baja California to San Diego, there is a freeway exit-sign just before entering Tijuana, featuring a street-name with three S's in the name. The only time I've ever seen that, and all I can assume is that is some strong sibilance!!

As for the topic, yes it is quite remarkable that they would propose giving Bibles to every student. As you say, maybe there still is hope for a country and a culture which is becoming so relentlessly and feverishly secular, renouncing quite a heritage in favor of...'embracing diversity'?
Ooops.
Humor, a Cooping Mechanism
.
First off – heh.

Second, note how Gina missspellled “schools” in the blog title. Isn’t that funnny? Not that she missspellled it, but that she missspellled it with an extra ‘o’. It just loooks funnny. Well alright, it loooks funnny to me.

Third, now that I’ve called atttention to it, Gina will feel obligated to go in and corrrect it. Which means subsequent readers willl wonder, head scratchingly, what in the world was that gooofy duck-like guy Rollley talking about, anyway?

Which is the response I usuallly get to my commments.

Isn’t that funnny?

(What folllows is parenthetical to the above parenthetical remarks).

Heh. This is how I (sometimes) get away with being offf-topic. And since we’re already there (offf-topic, I mean) I’lll take this oppportunity to

a) apologize to Carol for any tendency of my sillly remarks here to reflect uncomplimentarily on her worthy remarks here by mine’s mere proximity to hers,

and

b) thank Carol for her kind remarks of late in another thread to which the undisciplined and unprincipled and otherwise just, welll, gooofy and/or duck-like individual might want to jump to. Or not, if they know what’s goood for them, as I clearly don’t. (How would I know what’s goood for them? That’s not something they taught me in schoool).

and

c) last and foremost, apologize to Gina for going offf-topic, and jumping threads, and corrrecting her missspellling, and runnning the risk of trivializing an important discusssion, and of seeming disrespectful of Carol’s excelllent remarks, and repeating myself endlesssly, and being generallly gooofy.

But then, (I rationalize), it’s beeen a tough week, and this all-around gooofinesss is a cooping mechanism for me. And, up with, who but my BreakPoint friends would I rather be coooped?
This just knocked my sox off when I read it! How remarkable that a country which has been so firm and even rude in its stand against Christianity has now decided that the best solution to its problems is to give every schoolchild in the British Iles a Bible! What if the children actually read it? What might that do to the Kingdom in the next couple of generation? ;-)

I do hope that their legal system does NOT do what ours would should we ever be foolish enough to return Scripture and prayer to the classroom. In a pluralistic society, only Christians would be given a Bible. Muslims would receive a copy of the Koran, Buddhists would be given a copy of whatever literture they read, and Hindus likewise. It makes me wonder what kind of "holy book" might be given to Secular Humanists and Wiccans. Now, that prospect is going to keep me up all night!
