Chuck in the 'Wall Street Journal'

Chuck has co-authored an op-ed with Donald Wuerl, archbishop of Washington, D.C., and Meir Y. Soloveichik, director of the Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought at Yeshiva University, about the Obama administration's contraception mandate. Go here to read it.

Comments:

Jason and Kim
Please permit me to disabuse you of any thought that someone using my name was "trolling". Those are my sentiments, and if someone wants to pick a fight, I'm "armed and dangerous"!
(P.S. I liked "troll lair", too!)
1. A lair where trolls congregate. 2. A lair for people 'trolling' (in the internet sense) for a reaction, to pick a fight.
What double meaning?
Jason, I do like the double-meaning in the phrase "troll lair." :-)
Carol, we encourage people to comment. Those comments are read by a lot of folks, and can generate some interesting discussions.
Comments section in most places is a troll lair, Carol.
I forgot my 3rd point: someone was bashing Mr. Colson for having been a felon. I wanted so badly to reply to that, "God has forgiven and forgotten: why can't you?"

Keep your chin up, Sir. You're doing a fantastic piece of work!
The Op-Ed piece was about what I expected: a miniature Manhattan Declaration. But I'm glad to see it in a vehicle that will be read by the greater society (as opposed to "churchies").

The surprising part was the comments that followed. I'm not naive (I don't think), but I'm always surprised at the viciousness of the let's-beat-up-on-Catholics crowd. The clerical abuse scandal is old news (except to those who will have to suffer the consequnces for a lifetime). Come up for air and realize that only 0.1% of priests were guilty; the other 99.9% are good men trying to do a thankless job! The other attitude that surprised me was the feminist who self-identified as a "good" mother and Christian who agreed with Mr. Obama's thinking. Talk about oxymorons!
