Earth to China: Cheerier slogans aren't going to solve the terrible problems your one-child policy has created for you.

Just thought you should know that.

This policy has been in place since Jimmy Carter was President in the USA. It's been criticized from the start. Why would the Chinese suddenly succumb to pressure they've successfully ignored for over 30 years? Why the smiley-face now?
