A Long Goodbye to Andy Griffith
Rating: 4.00

His presence has been a staple in many houses. Raised Baptist, Andy Griffith decided to use his God-given talent to entertain as sheriff, lawyer, country bumpkin, and singer.

May you rest in peace, Andy.

Comments:

A quality TV dad (granddad)!
Andy Griffith's 2 series depicted two men who could be cousins...The wise Sheriff Andy Taylor of a small town...who could enforce the law, balance mercy & justice, and be a good dad to his motherless son Ron...

And later...his character Ben Matlock was a wily streetsmart lawyer who was a cheapskate...and who demanded $100,000 to defend the well off, but who could be badgered or begged into defending the less well funded. Matlock had his own take on justice and once in a while he might (sneakily) sabotage his client's own chances if the client did kill the victim!...
But his movie FACE IN THE CROWD is a good film about how some media types can create a great popular and political figure out of some clever, charming but still unknown guy.
He, along with the late Ernest Borgnine, are the TV dad generation to most Baby boomers (and the grandpa generation to later viewers). Solid, dependable, with a sense of humor.
Different day
Andy Griffith left us a legacy encouraging us to laugh at our own everyday foibles instead of ridiculing the misfortune and convictions of others. If ever this was needed as an alternative to the brutal and insipid culture wars, now is the time.
" "Andy was a person of incredibly strong Christian faith and was prepared for the day he would be called Home to his Lord," the actor's wife, Cindi Griffith, said in a statement."
I don't think I've seen that movie, but it looks intriguing.
He was also startlingly, chillingly brilliant in "A Face in the Crowd" -- and in his very first film role! I never get tired of watching that performance. If TCM airs it in tribute to him, as they probably will, don't miss it. R.I.P., Andy.
