As I wrote a few weeks back, the reality TV genre may be changing in unexpected, even radical ways. First there was Jennifer Fulwiler's show about her conversion from atheism to Christianity, and now there's a 10-episode series, "Surrender the Secret," about a group of women going through a post-abortion Bible study together. "Surrender the Secret" will premiere on KnockTV.com on January 22, the 40th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision.
The first episode, which I was able to preview, doesn't get into the actual Bible study so much as it examines the aftermath of abortion in these women's lives. (The study appears to be designed to focus on practical applications of the Bible for post-abortive women.) The show's value lies in its ability to show what they've been through, how it's affected them, and how their faith in God and their connection with each other is helping them get through it. As one woman says early on, they've all spent a long time believing lies -- the lies of the media, the abortion industry, and many other sources. Their only hope for a renewed life is to be found in God's truth.
This show is dealing with some pretty heavy stuff, and may be difficult to watch for many. But it has the potential to bring great healing as well. I hope you'll check it out.
