The Point: A Sign of the Times

John Stonestreet

This is a sign of the times. For the Colson Center, I’m John Stonestreet with The Point.

Imagine you’re the director of a pro-life center and for years you’ve helped women with unplanned pregnancies keep their babies.

Then all of a sudden, the government requires you to post large signs for “comprehensive planning services,” which include abortion. The signs must provide phone numbers and websites to abortion clinics.

That’s exactly what pro-life centers in Hawaii face with a new law passed by the state Senate. Of course abortion clinics aren’t forced to do the same for pro-life women’s centers.

The good news is our stalwart friends at the Alliance Defending Freedom are suing the state on behalf of the Calvary Chapel of Pearl Harbor Pregnancy Center.

Hawaii’s attack on conscience and free speech is outrageous, and courts have already struck down similar laws in several cities and states. The Supreme Court is currently considering a similar ADF case against California.

So why do pro-abortion legislators do this sort of thing? Because they can’t win in the court of public opinion. You and I must never give up defending life and religious freedom.
