The Point: The Constitution Still Matters

It all started when Shawnee State University professor Nicholas Meriwether answered a student’s question with, “Yes, sir.” After class, the student, a biological male claiming to be transgender, demanded Meriwether refer to him using female pronouns. When Meriwether, a believing Christian, said he couldn’t do that, the “student became aggressive, circling around him, getting in his face in a threatening fashion,” and then used a vulgar euphemism to refer to Meriwether as a female body part. A complaint was filed with the university for “creating a hostile environment,” but of course, not by Meriwether. The abusive student filed the complaint against him. The university, naturally, sided with the student, warning Meriwether he was violating the school’s nondiscrimination policy. But as ADF points out, the Constitution guarantees freedom of speech, and so ADF has filed a lawsuit on Meriwether’s behalf. We don’t have to submit to woke tyranny. Come to BreakPoint.org, and we’ll link you to ADF and other legal help groups that defend religious freedom. They deserve our support.
