The Point

The Point: The False Gods of Our Age

We may tell ourselves that idol worship is a thing of the past, the creations of primitive cultures, or the constant temptation of the ancient Israelites. But we have our false gods too—and they are every bit as dangerous to our souls. Starting tonight, at 8 PM Eastern, the Colson Center’s latest short course will tackle the four "Gods of Our Age: Sex, State, Science, and Stuff." Each of these things are good in and of themselves. Without sex, no us. Without state, chaos. Without science, ignorance. Without stuff, poverty. But when even good things occupy a place in our heart where only God belongs, they become our gods, and we become idolaters. Joining me to teach this online course over the next four Tuesdays are Dr. J. P. Moreland, Dr. Hunter Baker, and Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse. Every session includes a question-and-answer period. We record each session, so missing one isn’t a problem. All you have to do to register is come to BreakPoint.org.     Download mp3 audio here.
