Politics No, Evangelism Yes?

So what if a believing friend of yours says, “Since there’s no political solution to the mess our country is in, we should avoid politics and focus on evangelism.”

That’s the question tackled in the latest “What Would You Say?” video, and it couldn’t be more timely.

First, like the family and the church, God also created the government–each with distinct purposes. All three are required, functioning according to God’s plan, for society to flourish.

Second, we should never neglect evangelism, but civic engagement doesn’t require that. We can be salt and light in the civic life our communities and witnesses to the Gospel.

Finally, we ought never place hope in politics, but only in Jesus. Politics can be an idol but so can almost anything else: our careers, our families, anything. The answer to idolatry is not apathy.
